Mosquito Control Specialist (Public Health)

    Excellent opportunity working in public health with the County Mosquito Abatement Division
    Work four 10-hour days – enjoy 3-day weekends (Mon–Thurs or Tues–Fri)
    Seasonal, full-time position (up to 9 months)
    Starting pay $17.50/hour with pay increase upon licensing
    Paid training and licensing provided
    Dispatching from Meridian, ID

Duties:

    Identify and treat mosquito breeding sites and standing water
    Inspect drains, ponds, ditches, and containers for larvae
    Apply larvicides safely and according to regulations
    Document treatments, locations, and product usage
    Operate sprayers, field equipment, and mobile/GPS devices
    Monitor treatment effectiveness and re-treat as needed
    Maintain equipment, vehicles, and work areas
    Communicate with the public regarding mosquito prevention
    Safely operate county vehicles and perform related duties
    Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

    Valid driver’s license with good driving record
    Have been a licensed driver for at least 2 years
    Ability to obtain pest control license within 30 days (paid training provided)
    Comfortable working outdoors in various conditions
    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    Be drug-free
    Pass a background check
    Basic math and ability to follow labels/SDS instructions
    Able to work independently and as part of a team
    Comfortable using mobile devices and GPS
